Azeri MP accuses Iran, Armenia of producing chemical weapons

Baku, 9 September: “Azerbaijan’s neighbours Iran and Armenia are
involved in the production of chemical weapons. If the UN conducts
serious probes, it can easily prove this,” MP Elman Mammadov voiced
this sensational statement at today’s session of the Milli Maclis
[Azerbaijani parliament] standing commission for security and defence.
However, Milli Maclis Deputy Chairman Ziyafat Asgarov, who chaired
the session, immediately replied that this issue had nothing to do
with the agenda and did not let the MP complete his statement.
