Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, who serves as Iran’s Islamic Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s chief aide and senior adviser on armed forces affairs, made a major announcement on TRIPP. In fact, he accused the Armenian side of falsifying Iran’s position towards TRIPP.
Refuting the statements of Sargis Khandanyan, the elected chairman of the NA Foreign Relations Committee, he stated.
“We do not have any preliminary agreement with Armenia regarding TRIPP. We have no real mutual understanding or common ground on that issue.
We openly and clearly presented our red lines to the attention of Armenia. Therefore, the statement of the member of the Parliament of Armenia does not correspond to reality.
On the other hand, if we are against the US presence in the Persian Gulf, why should we support their presence in the South Caucasus? We consider the region and the security of our borders as a single entity. Therefore, this project in its current form poses a threat to Iran.
We continue negotiations with Armenia. However, if security responsibility there is transferred to the US military, Iran reserves the right to retaliate and is capable of taking appropriate measures.”
The Armenian National Congress has long warned that the implementation of TRIPP in the form adopted by the Armenian authorities is actually a geopolitical bomb placed under Armenia and proposed the implementation of the TRIPP BRICS alternative project as a real guarantee of Armenia’s security.
This is especially important in view of the created situation, which is assessed by many serious experts as a strategic defeat of the USA in the war against Iran.
The most terrible thing here is that the authorities of Armenia are in fact lying to their own people again, trying to hide the adventure carried out solely for the purpose of maintaining power, which can bring new fatal disasters to Armenia and the Armenian people.
It was like that before the war of 2020, it was like that in 2023, before the depopulation of Artsakh, and it is like that now.
However, these questions are not interesting to the statesmen who distribute positions in the National Assembly, as in the past.
