“The Republic of Armenia has no ambitions for any other country, for any measure.” Narek Karapetyan

At the August 10 parliamentary session, Narek Karapetyan, the leader of the largest opposition bloc, “Strong Armenia”, presented the party’s strategy, which combines social conservatism, economic liberalism and the rejection of territorial claims.

from the chair of the National Assembly Narek Karapetyan detailed the ideological foundations of his political power. He specifically referred to the concepts of “Historical” and “Real” Armenia, emphasizing that the Republic of Armenia does not have any territorial claims against other countries or any meter. According to him, Historical Armenia is an undeniable fact and an important field of cultural and historical studies, but it is necessary to exclusively focus on the strengthening and development of the current sovereign state.

Speaking about the “Strong Armenia” political platform, Karapetyan described it as a value-centered force. In the public sphere, the party is very conservative. they consider the protection of the traditional institution of the family to be the main guarantee of solving demographic problems and ensuring the growth of the birth rate in the region.

In the economy, the opposition proposes a liberal model combined with active state intervention or the so-called “Big Push” principle. According to Karapetyan, in the conditions of a small market and logistical restrictions, the state should initiate the establishment of new companies, attract investments, eliminate bureaucratic hassles and protect investors, providing around 300 thousand jobs.

At the beginning of his speech, the leader of the opposition faction also expressed his support for the candidate of the NA deputy speaker Aram Vardevanyanhighly appreciating his professionalism, ideological support and the free legal aid he provided to dozens of detained colleagues, as a result of which many of them are now with their families.
