Vahagn Aleksanyan, a lawmaker from the Civil Contract faction, has been elected Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
In a secret ballot, 62 lawmakers voted in favour of Aleksanyan’s candidacy, while 27 voted against.
Anna Grigoryan, leader of the Armenia faction, had previously announced that her faction would not participate in the vote.
The National Assembly has three deputy speakers, one of whom is nominated from among the opposition factions.
