Baku welcomed Pashinyan’s “real Armenia” concept

August 52026

Official Baku welcomes the “real Armenia” concept adopted by Yerevan. Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, told Turkish journalists.

According to him, the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process consists not only of statements on paper. He added that Azerbaijan “confirmed its commitment to peace with practical steps”.

“We positively assess the fact that the current administration of Armenia has adopted the concept of “real Armenia” as a fundamental approach. We expect that it will be included in the Constitution. We do not intend to interfere in the internal affairs of Armenia. They made statements about adopting a new constitution,” Hajiyev said.

He added that after the adoption of the new constitution, Armenia will have no problems signing a peace treaty.

“Our goal is to complete the peace processes between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as between Turkey and Armenia, by conducting them in parallel,” he added.

Aliyev’s aide also stated that the opening of the “Zangezur Corridor” is a part of the new geopolitical reality. “It serves both our and Armenia’s interests, as the country realizes the need for transit opportunities in the region,” Hajiyev said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
