AKIPRESS.COM – Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan has reappointed Nikol Pashinyan, leader of the Civil Contract party, as the country’s prime minister, according to a decree published on the president’s official website.
The appointment follows the government’s constitutionally mandated resignation after the parliamentary elections. The outgoing cabinet will continue serving in a caretaker capacity until a new government is formed.
Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party won 49.74% of the vote and secured 64 seats in parliament, giving it a majority to form a new government and nominate him for another term as prime minister.
