Armenia’s Janes Nazaryan has again been crowned U17 Greco-Roman wrestling world champion at the World Championships being held in Baku, where the Armenian National Anthem played in a packed stadium.
Nazarian defeated Russia’s Aslan Dzuev 4-3 in a hard-fought final, successfully defending his U17 world championship title.
Following his victorious performance, Armenia’s national anthem was played and the country’s national flag was raised during the official medal ceremony at the competition venue in Baku.

The two-time U17 world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling was proud to champion his nation at the World Championships in Baku.
“My goal was to become world champion, and that was what I had been working toward. I’m happy that I was able to make my people proud and raise our flag high. I wasn’t one hundred percent certain that I would win, but my coach helped me stay calm, and I never doubted my own abilities,” Nazaryan said upon return from Azerbaijan to Armenia.
