The health condition of 56-year-old Ludvig Mkrtchyan, who has been in prison for six years in Azerbaijan, has deteriorated sharply, and his relatives have not had any information about his fate for more than a month. Regarding the situation, the lawyer addressed an open letter to the leadership of Azerbaijan with the request to provide urgent telephone contact.

Lawyer: Luciana Minasyan according to reports, the wife of the prisoner, Hranush Shahbazyan, contacted her husband for the last time on June 19. During that conversation, Mkrtchyan said that due to severe weakness, he fell down and was taken to the cardiology department for examination. Immediately after that, contact with the family was completely cut off, and the Azerbaijani side has not provided any official diagnosis or medical explanation to this day.

According to the latest medical data, the 56-year-old man was diagnosed with inflammatory processes, repeated abnormalities of vital signs and serious heart problems, in particular, hypertrophy of the left ventricle. The human rights defender emphasizes that organizing even one phone call with the family is a minimal manifestation of human dignity, which will allow the relatives to make sure that the prisoner is alive and conscious.

Let us remind you that according to official data, 19 Armenian prisoners are currently being held in Baku prisons, among whom are also the former military and political leaders of Artsakh, sentenced to long or life imprisonment.
