“Azerbaijan needs an opportune moment to attack.” Grigory Ayvazyan

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeihun Bayramov told journalists the other day that the border demarcation between Armenia and Azerbaijan continues, and then he spoke again about the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia.

After that, the peace agreement can be signed.” said he.

“We will continue to work on the further institutionalization of peace, I have said before that we do not discuss issues related to the internal life of Armenia in the field of foreign policy.

“The necessity of adopting a new Constitution is recorded in the pre-election program, 726 thousand people voted for it. Another thing is that the balance of power in the parliament, according to the logic of the amendment of the Constitution, is not such that it is implemented by the known mechanism.  But that agenda exists, it is a pre-election commitment, we must analyze the situation, take a position on that topic.”

Chairman of the Assembly of Azerbaijani Armenians, expert on Azerbaijan issues Grigory Ayvazyan speaking about another demand from Azerbaijan, he noted that, in fact, Azerbaijan is trying to wrap the “extradition” agreement around Armenia’s neck, which will certainly not happen.

“It should be understood here that Azerbaijan is not even trying to sign any legal document. If we look at Azerbaijan’s demands, they are endless and unending, of course, they will talk about so-called “enclaves”, then they will start talking about territorial “corridors”, then they will say: why didn’t you remove Ararat from the coat of arms of Armenia, because it is a demand to Turkey, it is possible that one day they will tell you to change the names of Malatia-Sebastia, Zeytun administrative districts, the street named Artsakh rename, etc.

According to the expert, Azerbaijan knows very well that if they fulfill one of their demands in Armenia, then they will push forward another demand, and in the end, such a demand that it will not be possible to implement.

“All this is evidenced by the forums and meetings about the so-called “Western Azerbaijan”. And the dangerous thing here is that these organizations, which organize all that, are not public, but state, they sponsor them at the state level.

The leader of that “West Azerbaijan” is a deputy of the Mejlis of Azerbaijan, which represents the ruling party. It is natural, isn’t it, that all this means that Azerbaijan is not preparing for any peace and is putting forward absurd conditions. This is in the event that Azerbaijan is obliged to ensure the safe return of Artsakh Armenians to their homeland, and to fulfill both the right of return and compensation of Azerbaijani Armenians. In the Constitution of Azerbaijan, there are territorial claims to the entire territory of Armenia, at least 20,000 square kilometers, to Syunik, Tavush, Lake Sevan, and also to most of Yerevan,” our interlocutor added.

According to Grigori Ayvazyan, if Azerbaijan strives for peace, then at the state level, there will be no campaign of Armenian hatred throughout the country. “Only our desire for establishing peace is nothing when the other party does not have that desire. Was the “strategist’s park” built in Baku dismantled as a manifestation of preparation for peace? Of course not. If the problem here is the Constitution, then first of all, the problem is the issue of the Constitution of Azerbaijan.
