The United States has confirmed that it will resume troop rotations in Poland within the next few weeks after a temporary suspension of the process.
Reuters reported that the announcement was made by Polish Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Washington announced in May that it was suspending the rotation of U.S. troops to Poland. However, a few days later, President Donald Trump said the United States would deploy an additional 5,000 troops to the country.
“Poland is a loyal ally (of the United States), so I was very pleased to hear that the rotation, which was suspended a few weeks ago, is returning and will be completed in the coming weeks,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said during a ceremony at a missile factory.
The Polish government had previously said it was working to secure the return of U.S. troops, but no timetable had been announced.
Around 10,000 U.S. troops are stationed in Poland on a rotational basis.
