Following the results of the June 7 parliamentary elections and the decision of the Constitutional Court, the opposition “Armenia” bloc has officially announced its intention to take the mandates it received, describing the parliamentary presence as a necessary weapon of political struggle.
The official announcement of the alliance emphasizes that voluntarily giving up mandates will be seen as irresponsibility towards the state and the voters who voted for them. The political power does not consider the parliamentary status as a position or comfort, but considers it a legal and political tool for daily resistance and protection of citizens’ interests.
According to the announcement, the representation in the National Assembly will give an opportunity to raise public issues more effectively, offer concrete solutions, as well as strengthen ties with international and local actors. “Armenia” alliance assures that it will send an ideological and unbreakable political team to the parliament, which is ready to assume its share of responsibility in the front line of political resistance.
It is noteworthy that the day before, on July 6, Narek Karapetyan, the representative of the “Strong Armenia” alliance, also announced the decision to take the mandates.
Let us remind you that according to the final results of the June 7 elections, three political forces will operate in the newly elected National Assembly. the ruling “Civil Pact” party will have 64 seats, the “Strong Armenia” alliance will have 29 seats, and the “Armenia” alliance will have 12 seats.
