Tehran, IRNA – Meeting the Armenian prime minister, the Iranian president deeply appreciated Armenia’s high-ranking delegation for attending the funeral of the martyred Leader, describing the Armenian government and people’s condolences as a testament to deep, historic bilateral ties.
Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the sidelines of a ceremony honoring the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, attended by foreign delegations in Tehran on Thursday.
Pezeshkian emphasized that bilateral relations have consistently been built on mutual respect, good neighborliness, and shared interests.
The Islamic Republic highly values Armenia’s responsible approach and friendly support across various sectors, viewing this cooperation as vital for strengthening bilateral ties and regional stability, he stated.
He further stressed the necessity of shielding bilateral relations from foreign interference, adding that the friendly ties between Tehran and Yerevan must develop based on the mutual will of both nations, independent of external actors.
For his part, Pashinyan reaffirmed the friendly relations between the two countries, asserting that his country has consistently striven to ensure its actions never compromise Iran’s interests. Instead, Armenia remains committed to standing by Iran within the framework of friendship and good neighborliness to the best of its capabilities.
