A regular meeting of the Interagency Commission on Prisoners, Hostages and Missing Persons (whose whereabouts remain unknown) was held under the chairmanship of Director of Armenia’s National Security Service, Andranik Simonyan. The National Security Service said in a statement that Commission Chairman Andranik Simonyan, who also serves as Director of the National Security Service, presented the main issues identified during the previous meeting and reviewed progress in implementing the instructions issued to address them. The participants also discussed the legal regulations introduced under the Armenian law “On Persons Missing in the Conditions and Circumstances Created as a Result of Military Operations,” which entered into force on May 1, 2026. The importance of the legislation was highlighted in terms of establishing a systematic framework for addressing issues related to missing persons, as well as the organizational measures undertaken to ensure its implementation. The meeting also addressed issues related to the coordination of work among various state bodies and other interested institutions. As a result of the discussions, relevant instructions were issued and key directions for the organization of future work were outlined.
