Preparations for the highly anticipated military parade scheduled for Republic Day on May 28 in central Yerevan were completed on Wednesday, with the Defense Ministry vowing to showcase reformed armed forces to the public.
“We have completed the final preparations for the parade,” Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan said in Yerevan’s central square, as the military orchestra rehearsed for the event.
“On May 28, starting at 9:30, we are expecting everyone at Republic Square. Come and [witness] Armenia’s new army—with a new appearance, new armament, and new uniforms,” the minister said in a video message.
The Defense Ministry had earlier unveiled a new emblem of the army.
