Pashinyan thanks Georgian and Turkish partners: Akhalkalaki-Kars railway now available for Armenian export and import

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that the Akhalkalaki–Kars railway, along with the Azerbaijani railway network, is now open for Armenian export and import transportation.

According to Pashinyan, the development represents a significant milestone for Armenia’s economy.

“The Akhalkalaki–Kars railway, like the Azerbaijani railway, is now open for export and import from Armenia,” he said, expressing gratitude to Georgia and Turkey. “Thanks to our partners in Turkey and Georgia.”

The Armenian Prime Minister noted that Armenia currently has railway access to Russia through Georgia and Azerbaijan, as well as links to China through Russia and Kazakhstan. He added that Armenia now also has railway connectivity with the European Union through Georgia and Turkey.

Pashinyan further stated that additional regional railway connections are expected to open in the future, including routes linking Armenia with Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Iran via Nakhchivan.

“In the near future, the Armenia–Turkey, Armenia–Azerbaijan, and then the Armenia–Iran railway will be opened via Nakhchivan,” he said.

According to Pashinyan, these developments are connected to the implementation of the so-called “Trump Route” project.
