Ahead of the parliamentary elections to be held on June 7, political rhetoric in Armenia is intensifying. Robert Kocharyan, the prime ministerial candidate of the “Armenia” opposition alliance, came forward with the initiative of constitutional reforms, proposing to establish a mandatory educational censure for the highest officials of the state.
During the pre-election rally held in Charentsavan on May 17, the leader of the political force announced the need for IQ testing for prime ministerial candidates. Developing the theme of educational standards, the politician emphasized the importance of working with the voters so that the society realizes the importance of professional knowledge in the management of the country.
In this context, he criticized the current head of the government Nikol Pashinyanrecalling the fact that he did not have a higher education and was expelled from the university.
In his speech, Kocharyan paid special attention to the state structure of Armenia. He expressed his belief that the semi-presidential form of government is the most optimal for the republic, pointing out the need to review the powers of the president.
The acting presidential institute described the politician as purely decorative. According to him, keeping a staff of one hundred people for a position that has no real power is an unjustified and meaningless burden on the state budget.
Let’s remind that the pre-election campaign in Armenia started on May 8 and will continue until June 5. 19 political forces are fighting for parliamentary mandates in the elections to be held on June 7.
