The RA government revised the medical eligibility criteria, enabling citizens using mobility aids to enter the service.
With the amendments approved at the May 14 government session, the legal obstacles that previously did not allow people who have overcome serious health problems to join the armed forces are removed.
According to the previous regulations, persons with significant functional impairments were prohibited from entering contract service. According to the new ruling, if a citizen is able to move around with the help of prostheses, crutches or even a wheelchair after recovery and some restoration of functionality, he is legally eligible to reapply and enlist in the military.
This initiative aims to create a level playing field and ensure inclusiveness in the defense system, valuing the potential of every citizen willing to serve.
