On November 11, the planet Mercury will move across the disc of the Sun, Armenia’s Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory reports, adding the phenomena last occurred in May 2016 is rather rare as Mercury only transits the Sun 13 times in a century.

As the press service at the Observatory reports, the transit will take from 12։35 to 18։04 GMT and will last about 5 hours 29 minutes. The phenomenon can be viewed amateur telescopes and over-the-aperture filters.

The transit in progress will be in Europe, Africa, South America and partially in the western U.S. In Armenia, the best time to observe the phenomena is at sunset.

On the occasion, the Observatory is organizing a public viewing for all space lovers and citizens on November 11.
