Chess: Aronian claims victory in round two of World Cup 2019

Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian claimed victory on Friday against Parham Maghsudlu of Iran in the first game of the second round of World Cup chess championship in Khanty Mansiysk, Russia. The game ended in the 42nd move. Meanwhile, another Armenian player Sergey Movsesyan shared a point with World Cup winner Ding Lier if China. The response games will be played on September 14.

To note, the Chess World Cup 2019 is a 128-player single-elimination chess tournament underway in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia from 9 September to 4 October 2019.The finalists of the tournament will qualify for the Candidates Tournament for the World Chess Championship 2020.
