Armenian PM, EBRD President discuss ways for expanding cooperation

YEREVAN, MARCH 7, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan received the delegation led by President of EBRD Suma Chakrabarti.

As ARMENPRESS was informed from the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan highly assessed the cooperation between Armenia and the EBRD and highlighted its future expansion. Nikol Pashinyan noted that the projects of the EBRD are of great importance for the implementation of the reform initiated by the Government and for the economic revolution agenda in the directions of improvement of business environment, fostering the competitiveness in private sector and so on. The Head of the Executive hoped that the amount of EBRS investments will rise in the future and will cover other spheres of the economy. Nikol Pashinyn highlighted the implementation of projects for SMEs in Armenia by the Bank, adding that the goal of the Government is fostering the development of business.

Suma Chakrabarti noted that the EBRD, taking into account the positive developments in Armenia, is ready to continue its assistance to the Armenian Government for the implementation of projects in various spheres. The EBRD President noted that in its new strategy of cooperation with Armenia projects for SMEs will have a major place. Suma Chakrabarti expressed his personal and EBRD’s assistance to the Government of Armenia in the reform implementation process. He noted that the assistance will be in the form of both financial and consultative.

During the meeting the sides exchanged views on various issues referring to the future partnership, spoke about the works of the annual conference of the EBRD to take place in May.
