PLANES WITH AZERBAIJANI PASSENGERS LAND AT YEREVAN AIRPORT

Two Tbilisi-bound Ukrainian aircrafts carrying Azerbaijani passengers
had to land at Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport on the night
of December 21 and 22 due to a foggy weather in the Georgian capital.

Some 24 passengers were reported to be on board the first and another
13 – on board the second plane.

“As Zvartnots was selected as a reserve [airport] for them, they
made the landing there. Our security officers ensured their security,
allowing them to exchange money at the currency exchange units. They
treated them with tea and coffee and saw them off,” Ruben Grdzeyan,
a spokesperson for the Armenian Government’s Civil Aviation Department,
told Tert.am.

“Perhaps, they initially has security concerns, but many of them
thanked several time sthe security office Henrik Gabrielyan in public,”
he added.

Armlur.am quotes a passenger as telling the Azerbaijani media that the
Azerbaijani passengers had fears while in air and asked the pilots
to land in Ganja. The pilots, however, made decided to make landing
in Armenia’s capital.
