JA Armenia and HSBC drive youth financial literacy Education in
Armenian Schools
HSBC/JA Armenia partnership teaches young people critical
money-management skills.
Yerevan, Armenia, November 6, 2014 -HSBC and JA Armenia are partnering
again to bring the innovative JA More than Money® program to more than
2250 local students across 75 schools. This collaboration effectively
equips children between the ages of 7 and 11 with critical financial
literacy skills they will need to make informed decisions about money
management in the future.
The HSBC Global Initiative, now in its sixth year, has contributed an
additional $1.5 million in the 2013-2014 school year for the sponsorship
and implementation of the program through 34 JA operations across 31
countries around the world. Over the past five years, more than 319,000
young people around the world and have received relevant financial
education through 5,200 dedicated HSBC volunteers.
JA More than Moneyteaches young people about money basics – earning,
spending, saving, investing and donating, as well as businesses they can
start and jobs they can perform. It provides engaging, academically
enriching, and experiential-learning sessions, featuring interactive
volunteer-led business and community games that help young people learn the
significance of money management.
`HSBC’s focus on education is about investing in the future of young
people, said Thies Clemenz, HSBC Armenia Executive. We recognize the
importance of early financial literacy education and are committed to
working with JA to provide children both the skills and the tools they will
need to make informed money management decisions.’
Program evaluation results have shown conclusively that the student
participants between the ages of 7-11 demonstrated significantly greater
knowledge and retention of financial concepts, compared to their
non-participating peers, and showed behavioural and attitudinal changes
toward saving and earning money as well as managing their own businesses.

relationship with money to lead to successful economic development.’
