Expert: Very soon they in the Kremlin will select a governor for Armenia

By having signed the agreement on Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian
Economic Union, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has made Armenia and
its sovereignty hostage to that suspicious structure, Director of the
Armenian Institute of International and Security Affairs Stepan
Safaryan told journalists on Saturday.
“From now on Armenia will face dim future and growing threats. Now
nobody will care for its interests, while Russia will be using the
Nagorno-Karabakh problem for enhancing its influence in the South
Caucasus,” Safaryan said.
He believes that the Kremlin will do its best to make Azerbaijan also
involved in the Eurasian Economic Union.
He said that the agreement on Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian
Economic Union has a point saying that there should be a customs
office on Armenia’s border with Nagorno-Karabakh. This point is a time
bomb, which will blow up as soon as Armenia refuses to meet it.
Safaryan is surprised to see that the Armenian opposition ignores this
problem. “While the authorities hint that they had no alternative to
this decision, the opposition says that it was right. If things
continue developing this way, very soon they in the Kremlin will
selected a governor for Armenia,” Safaryan said.
