Meeting with Janine Altounian at the French Institute of Istanbul
“Traumatic heritage and its analytical study”: with the
psychoanalyst Bella Habip
As part of the series of meetings `Trajectories and memories
cross-references – Voices of the Anatolian diasporas of France` organized in
partnership with the French Institute of Anatolian Studies in Istanbul,
Janine Altounian, writer and translator of Freud (complete works,
PUF direction Laplanche), author of Memoirs of the Armenian Genocide,
Traumatic inheritance and analytical work, published in 2009, addresses the
theme of `Traumatic heritage and its analytical study’ with the
psychoanalyst Bella Habip. Translator Renan Akman assured
animation and moderation of the discussion. The event was
organized by the Istanbul Human Rights Association,
the French Institute of Anatolian Studies and the Cultural Center
French from Istanbul. From Armenian parents who survived the Busa genocide, Janine Altounian
was born in 1934 in Paris. His father, Vahram Altounian, wrote
their family history in Turkish with the Armenian alphabet. This
work was a driving force in Janine’s university career
Altounian. She is particularly recognized for the quality of her work
psychoanalytic studies on traumatic heritage and its consequences on
