RBC channel’s biased policy contrary to Moscow’s position on Nagorno-Karabakh
Baku, Azerbaijan, July 23

Azerbaijani Presidential Administration’s Deputy Head and Director of
Administration’s Foreign Relations Department, Novruz Mammadov accused
Russian channel RBC of a biased policy, contrary to Moscow’s position
on Nagorno-Karabakh.
“Contrary to official Moscow’s policy, Russian RBC implements a biased
policy on Nagorno-Karabakh by hosting 2 Armenians on the show,”
Mammadov tweeted.
Mammadov added that self-professed impartial channel RBC regrettably
serves insidious purposes.
“RBC aims to shape opinion through deceiving public with false
information,” he said.
RBC TV channel invited adviser to “NKR foreign minister” Arsen
Melik-Shakhnazarov and another Armenian political analyst to one of
its shows and presented the separatist Nagorno-Karabakh regime as
“Nagorno-Karabakh Republic”.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988
when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied
20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and
seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs
of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the U.S. are currently
holding peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented four U.N. Security Council resolutions
on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
