MOSCOW, 18 March (BelTA) – A delegation of the Eurasian Economic
Commission (EEC) led by EEC Minister of Economy and Financial Policy
Timur Suleimenov held meetings in Yerevan to discuss Armenia’s
accession to the Customs Union. The meetings focused on the
implementation of Armenia’s Customs Union entry roadmap in financial
policy, services and investment, protection of intellectual property,
labor migration, monetary policy and financial markets, BelTA learnt
from the EEC press service.

At the meeting with Armenian Premier Tigran Sargsyan the parties
discussed Armenia’s joining to the agreements and treaties that make
up the legal framework of the Customs Union and the Single Economic
Space. The parties considered the mechanisms of calculating quotas
in distributing import customs duties taking into account Armenia’s
accession, indirect taxation, movement of cash resources by individuals
and counteraction to legalization of proceeds of crime (money
laundering), intellectual property protection and parallel importing.

Timur Suleimenov informed the Armenian Premier on the preparation of
the draft Eurasian Economic Union Treaty.

Detailed discussion of the issues related to the implementation of
the action plan on Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union and the
Single Economic Space was continued during Timur Suleimenov’s bilateral
meetings with Finance Minister of Armenia David Sargsyan, Economy
Minister of Armenia Vagram Avanesyan and Chairman of the Central Bank
of Armenia Artur Dzhavadyan. “Armenia’s authorized state bodies hosted
meetings with the participation of EEC experts to regulate issues
related to Armenia’s accession to the legal framework of the Customs
Union and the Single Economic Space,” the EEC press service said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
