YEREVAN. – The Karabakh War veterans, who had assembled at Saryan
Grove in Downtown Yerevan, told the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter
that they will join the opposition Armenian National Congress rally to
be held at Liberty Square on Saturday. (PHOTO)

About 200 freedom fighters placed flowers to the statue of Martiros
Saryan, praised the birthday of the great Armenian painter, and
delivered remarks, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informs.

“The scum fired upon the Armenian people six years ago, and Armenia is
heading toward destruction thereafter. We will get together to see
where we are heading. We have no right to live like this,” Karabakh
War veteran Suren Sargsyan said, in particular.

“An indicator will be placed to clarify who had what kind of a past,”
freedom fighter Razmik Petrosyan stated in turn.

Opposition Heritage Party Chairman, ex-presidential candidate, former
FM, Raffi Hovannisian has joined the protesting Karabakh War veterans.

Following the presidential election that was conducted in Armenia on
February 18, 2008, eight demonstrators and two police officers had
died during a confrontation between the pro-government and the
opposition forces on March 1 in Downtown Yerevan. But no one has yet
been brought to account for the killings.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
