YEREVAN. – We need to attempt to ensure a preferential procedure for
the Armenian citizens’ stay in the Russian Federation (RF).

Armenian National Security Council Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan
stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Saturday.

He commented on the latest amendments that were made in the RF law on
entry to and exit from Russia.

Pursuant to the amendments, foreign nationals may stay in Russia
without registration, or a work contract, for solely 90 days.
Subsequently, they may travel back to Russia only after 90 days.

No exceptions were made for Armenia, as Russia’s future partner in the
Customs Union, and work has to be carried out in this direction,
Baghdasaryan added.

“I will send a letter next week to the RF Security Council secretary
awaiting his position on the matter.

“Given the allied nature of our relations [with Russia] and
[Armenia’s] Eurasian Union accession as of January 2015, we must try
to provide a more preferential treatment for our citizens. We must do
everything on our part, since the number of deportations can really
grow,” Arthur Baghdasaryan noted.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
