WHY ARE WE SETTING SAIL ON SINKING SHIP? – ARMENIAN EX-MP COMMENTS ON CU ACCESSION

November 19, 2013 | 12:45 YEREVAN.

We are now entering a new alliance [i.e., the Russia-led Customs
Union (CU)] without healing the wounds of the previous war, and we
are being forced to enter this alliance.

Armenian former MP Azat Arshakyan stated the above-said at a press
conference on Tuesday.

If Russia is so powerful, let this powerful country apologize to
Armenia for the war it unleashed, and then let us start our relations.

If Russia is so decrepit that it cannot declare the alliance it
has signed with Turkey null and void, where are we going with this
decrepit [country]? If it is unable, why are we setting sail on a
sinking ship? Arshakyan asked.

The ex-MP noted, however, that Armenia should not be left out of any
global program.

But Armenias interest should play a very important role in this
globalization,he added.

Arshakyan stressed that if Armenia will join any alliance, this
should strengthen the country even more and improve the lives of
its citizenry.

Azat Arshakyan added that there is no Karabakh issue, but rather an
Armenian issue, the Karabakh issue is a part of it, and there is but
one solution: the plans of surrendering Karabakh to Azerbaijan and
Nakhichevan to Turkey plus the agreement on “dismembering” Armenia
must be declared null and void.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
