FREEDOM-FIGHTER’S DETENTION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS POLITICAL VIEWS – DEFENSE MINISTER

Armenian Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan has stated that Volodya
Avetisyan’s detention has nothing in common with his political views.
“I think that what happened has to do with his personal activities. He
interfered in the recruitment process in Armenia’s Armed Forces. It
has nothing to do with his political activities,” Minister Ohanyan
told journalists in Parliament.
Volodya Avetisyan, who is a participant in the Nagorno-Karabakh war,
has been charged with fraud. Specifically, he promised a citizen to
arrange his grandchild’s exemption from military service for $2,000.
A group of freedom-fighters (participants in the Nagorno-Karabakh
war of liberation) believe that Avetisyan is being persecuted for
his civil activities.
