OPPOSITION MP CRITICAL OF PLANNED INCREASE OF GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS’ SALARIES

Armenian National Congress (ANC) parliamentary group member Nikol
Pashinyan is critical of the bill raising monthly salaries of
government officials.
Armenia’s parliament does not do the people’s will, he said.
“A glaring example is the adoption of the bill abolishing the dole just
an hour ago. And we are now discussing the issue of raising President
Serzh Sargsyan’s salary by 203 percent, Premier Tigran Sargsyan’s
and Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan’s salary by 218 percent,”
Mr Pashinyan said.
He stressed that the assembly hall was almost empty when the employment
bill was on the parliament agenda. On the other hand, all the MPs
were present when the issue of salaries was on the agenda.
