WATERTOWN, Mass.-The Central Executive Board of the Armenian Relief
Society is pleased to announce that the ARS Central Office Financial
Department will henceforth be named in honor of benefactor Hrair
Soghomonian’s mother, Manoushag Soghomonian.

A plaque will be placed at the entrance of that department in gratitude
for our esteemed benefactor’s generous donation of $15,000 in honor
of his mother.

On this occasion, Vicky Marashlian, Chairperson of the ARS Central
Executive Board, expresses her gratitude on behalf of the entire
membership of the Society, emphasizing that the century-long
humanitarian service of the ARS throughout the Diaspora and the
Homeland would not have been possible without the generous support
of benefactors and donors, such as Hrair Soghomonian. Generous
contributions such as this allow for the smooth and effective
implementation of a variety of ARS programs.

Benefactor Hrair Soghomonian

Soghomonian is the recipient of “Prince of Cilicia” from His Holiness
Catholicos Aram I. Manoushag Soghomonian has served in the ranks of
the Armenian Relief Society since 1949, in Syria Kesab and Aleppo in
Lebanon and in Canada. From 1995 to this day, she remains an active
member in Montreal’s “Soseh” chapter, morally and materially supporting
our many humanitarian programs, earning the affection and respect of
her friends and members of the community.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
