GOVERNOR OF SYUNIK RESIGNED

On June 6 the government accepted the resignation of the governor of
Syunik Suren Khachatryan.

A few days ago, in the result of an incident in front of Khachatryan’s
house involving his son and his bodyguard the ex-candidate for mayor
of Goris Avetiq Budaghyan was killed, and his brother, commander
Artak Budaghyan, was injured. Suren Khachatryan’s son and bodyguard
are held in custody.

Earlier Khachatryan had announced about temporary suspension of his
competences but the law does not provide for such a possibility.
