ARMENIA AGREED TO TAKE TWO SUPERJETS FOR HALF A YEAR
DEFENSE and SECURITY (Russia)

Sukhoi Civil Airplanes (GSS) and Armavia that had formerly planned to
give up short-haul passenger airplane Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ 100)
signed a lease contract for six months.
The parties signed an agreement that would come into force after
fulfillment of the customs requirements and lifting of the financial
burden. In the near future air company Armavia will restart operation
of SSJ and will remain the operator and GSS will be the lessor. After
expiry of the initial period the participants will discuss further
actions again. On October 2, MSN 95007 airplane arrived to Yerevan.
The parties continue negotiations on the second airplane (MSN 95021)
built for Armavia in the framework of the contact signed earlier. The
airplane is in the flight testing center of GSS. In August, Armavia
decided to give up the first airplane SSJ 100 purchased from GSS.
Earlier, the air carrier revised the plans to buy the second airliner
supply of which was planned for June. Armavia preferred products of
Airbus and Boeing to SSJ. It was reported that the debt of Armavia
for the first airplane to GSS amounted to $4 million. Initially, GSS
planned to sign a firm contract on supply of six SSJ 100 to Armavia.
