Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman has said that the recent presidential
elections in Azerbaijan’s breakaway region of Karabakh will not yield
acceptable results as long as Azerbaijani and Armenian officials are
continuing their talks on the issue.

“The Karabakh region is currently facing a crisis. As long as the
region is in crisis, stability has not been restored and talks between
Azerbaijani and Armenian officials have not yielded a result, we
don’t think that such actions will have an acceptable result,” Ramin
Mehmanparast said at his weekly news conference on 24 July broadcast
live by Iran’s state news channel, IRINN, and English-language
Press TV.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
