The Paris meeting of foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan,
Edward Nalbandian and Elmar Mammadyarov, will not result in progress
for Karabakh conflict settlement, political expert Aleksandr Manasyan
said at today’s press-conference.

“It is very much possible that this meeting will be of a preparatory
nature and it’s more than likely that the foreign ministers will
discuss and prepare the documents which will be probably signed
during the meeting of presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan”, – he
said. He also added that official Baku does not want radical changes
in the negotiating process. However, it is critically tuned against
the status-quo and is displeased with provocations taking place at
the border between Nagornyy Karabakh and Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan
and Armenia.

He said that the sabotage actions at the border could have two
scenarios: first, the initiative belongs to Baku and does not suppose
serious consequences, and second, the world community gave the idea
of sabotage to Azerbaijan with a purpose of making a political step
to damage Iran and to reduce Russia’s influence in the region. At the
same time, the expert said that battle actions will hardly resume in
the near future. Anyway, Armenia should be ready to them, he said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
