PanARMENIAN.Net – Head of the Center for Aid and Rehabilitation to the
Victims of Destructive Cults Alexander Amaryan met with journalists
on May 4.

Sectarian organizations will actively participate in National Assembly
elections due on May 6, he said.

“Armenia has approximately 200-230000 sect members accounting for
10% of the total voters, and these votes may help a party enter the
parliament,” Amaryan told the press conference.

According to the expert, only Republican Party of Armenia (RPA),
Communist Party and United Armenians party do not cooperate with
sects. As to remaining five forces running for elections, it appears
to be possible, he said.

There are 64 registered and 200 unregistered sectarian organizations
in Armenia, Amaryan stated saying religious organizations are well
financed, with most part of the funding coming from abroad.

Unfortunately, Armenian legislation specifies no control over the
sects; no sanctions are imposed on them either, he added.
