PanARMENIAN.Net – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan extended
condolences on the death of the prominent Italian poet, writer and
screenwriter Tonino Guerra.

“We lost a renowned culture worker, whose works spread joy, admiration
and kindness not only in native Italy, but all over the world,”
the President’s telegram reads.

Serzh Sargsyan also dwelt on Guerra’s visits to Armenia, and relations
between him and the Armenian people.

“This Italian genius was a good friend of Armenia and the Armenian
people,” he noted.

“On behalf of the Armenian nation, I express my deepest condolences to
you, your family and the whole Italian nation. It’s a big and painful
loss. Tonino Guerra’s genius works that the eternal values are the
only consolation left,” Presidential message to Tonino Guerra’s
family reads.

Legendary Italian poet, writer and screenwriter Tonino Guerra died
in Italy on Wednesday, March 21 at the age of 92, Adriano del Asta,
RIA Novosti reported.

Guerra, who wrote more than 100 screenplays, worked with such
filmmakers as Federico Fellini, Michelangelo Antonioni, Andrey
Tarkovsky, Francesco Rosi and Theodoros Angelopoulos.

Among the films he wrote or co-wrote are L’avventura, Red Desert,
Blow-Up, Zabriskie Point, Amarcord, Nostalghia, Landscapes of the
Mist and Exquisite Corpses. He earned Oscar nominations for Amarcord,
Blow-Up and Casanova 70.
