How was the press covering the process of formation of the Armenian
Army and the Artsakh war? Aghvan Vardanyan, who was the editor of
“Yerkir” daily” in 1990-1993 and correspondent of the “Yerkir” and
“Armenian soldier” papers Vardan Devrikyan recall the events of 20
years ago.

It was very hard for the press to work during the war. There no
electricity, no means of transportation. Despite all that, journalists
were always managing to send fresh information from the front, Aghvan
Vardanyan said.

The 20th anniversary of formation of the Armenian Army is a good
occasion for Vardan Devrikyan to review his articles sent from the
front. According to him, it’s necessary to maintain the achievements,
and even the criticism should contribute to the maintenance of those
achievements.

According to Afghvan Vardanyan, it’s necessary to change the
atmosphere, to regain the attitude of those times.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
