ARMENIAN RULING COALITION PARTY MP DENIES THAT THE PERSON WHO BEAT A POLICE OFFICER WAS HIS BODYGUARD

YEREVAN. – The ruling coalition’s Prosperous Armenia Party MP Martun
Grigoryan denies the information that Getap village resident Anushavan
Baghdasaryan-one of the persons who was involved in the shots fired
at an Artik city cafe on Tuesday-is his, or his father’s, bodyguard.
“I know Anushavan, but he has no connection with me. I do not have
a bodyguard,” Martun Grigoryan himself told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
The Police Force is currently preparing material on the incident.
To note, according to Artik residents, Anushavan Baghdasaryan is a
member of Martun Grigoryan’s and his father’s security personnel.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, shots were fired Tuesday
evening in Armenia’s Artik city, Hraparak daily wrote. “The shots were
preceded by a brutal fight also involving a police officer. According
to our source, a group of men had approached the officer, had a short
conversation, and then took him into their car and disappeared. The
same group continued the ‘skirmish’ at a place in Artik, where a
fight broke shortly thereafter. The group severely beat the police
officer, who fired shots in the direction of the group. According
to our source, the group’s ‘ringleader,’ a certain Anushavan-who,
according to Artik residents, is a close associate of [the ruling
coalition’s Prosperous Armenia Party] PAP MP Martunik Grigoryan-was
shot in the foot. Anushavan, with an injured foot and together with
his friends, pursued the police officer who, while escaping, was
firing shots outside into the air. We learned that the argument had
begun when the group had attempted to settle scores with the police
officer, concerning a matter in connection with the officer’s brother,”
Hraparak wrote.
