ARMENIA ISSUES POSTAGE-STAMP MARKING CIS 20TH JUBILEE

A postage-stamp dedicated to the 20th jubilee of the Commonwealth of
Independent States (CIS) has been issued in Armenia on Thursday.

A ceremony marking the cancellation of the postage-stamp will be held
in the republic’s Foreign Ministry mansion and will be attended by
participants in the CIS Foreign ministers’ interaction consultations
that are being held here on the initiative of the Armenian side.

The postage-stamp has been designed by David Dovlatyan in
blue-and-lilac colours. In the center, the postage-stamp bears
the emblem of the CIS. An inscription “20 years” in Armenian and
Russian is superimposed upon the outline map of the CIS. The stamp
has been printed in 40,000 copies by the Ottawa-based printing-office
Lowe Martin Groupr, said Anna Gukasyan, head of the postal service
departmen of for philately and foreign relations.
