A multilateral agreement on “Establishment of a research center
addressing issues of developing countries with no access to the
sea” was signed in New York on October 28. Armenia’s Permanent
Representative at the UN Karen Nazaryan signed the agreement on behalf
of the Republic of Armenia, Press and information Department of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

The agreement envisages establishing a center that will study the
opportunities of countries with no access to the sea to get more
actively involved in international trade, discuss the challenges
they face and to contribute-through ongoing cooperation with the
UN-to the provision of necessary financial and technical support,
in order to meet those challenges.

Earlier the UN adopted a resolution welcoming the idea of creating
a research center.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
