Turkey has been active in the recent period, aspiring to regain its
influence in the Middle East, expert of Turkish studies Levon
Hovsepyan told a press conference today. Turkey actively interferes
with the developments in the Arab world, particularly supporting the
Syrian opposition. What developments are likely against this
background?

Levon Hovsepyan says this policy of Turkey is not new. In 1990s Turkey
was trying to spread its influence in the South Caucasus and the
Middle East regions.

Can this activeness affect the revival of the Armenian-Turkish
dialogue? `I don’t think there will be serious developments, since
Turkey’s domestic and foreign policy agenda is rather rich, and Ankara
will still refrain from taking steps in that direction,’ the expert
said.

Levon Hovsepyan hopes that there will be no Turkish-Syrian military
clashes, since instability in the region could harm the interests of
our country.
