NEW WATER TREATMENT TECHNOLOGY MAY BE USED FOR LAKE SEVAN

New water treatment technology with use of natural zeolites may be
used for Lake Sevan, vahan Davtyan, Candidate of Technical Sciences,
told media, Tuesday.
He called it quite a simple but efficient technology that is
successfully used in abroad. Davtyan said that the new treatment
technology will not cost the country much for there are big reserves
of zeolite in the towns of Noyemberyan and Ijevan. The given project
will apply to the polluted rivers flowing into Sevan and first of
all the River of Gavaraget.
It is noteworthy that use of natural zeolites in the water treatment
process is a novelty in Armenia. The project will be presented on
sidelines of the conference “Geological and Environmental Monitoring
of Administrative Regions” that commenced in Yerevan on Tuesday. Some
foreign guests of the conference have already taken an interest in
the project.
“We will leave make a tour of Sevan tomorrow to show the areas where
rivers flow into the lake,” Davtyan said.
