On the initiative of Yerevan Mayor’s Office, on the occasion of
20th anniversary of independence and “Erebuni-Yerevan” celebrations
a concert of classical music was held today in the park neighboring
Komitas Statue. The best pupils and ensembles of almost all art and
musical schools of Yerevan town, and students of State Conservatory
named after Komitas participated in the event.

The concert program included works of Armenian classical composers
Komitas, Arno Babajanyan, Aram Khachatryam, and works of Russian and
European composers. “I think we have a wonderful concert program,”
advanced specialist of Educational and Cultural Department of Kentron
administrative unit Margarit Sargsyan told Armenpress. “All of us
participate in suchlike events with pleasure, as these holidays are
important for all Armenian people,” Mrs. Sargsyan added.

The concert of classical music lasted about 4 hours. To remind, the
events dedicated to RA Independence Day are continued in different
parts of the capital.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
