A Karabakh war participant has suggested to gradually reducing the
duration of mandatory military service in the army down to 12 months.

Sardarapat movement and former commander of the Shoushi Special
Regiment, also attached importance to correct policy in terms of
personnel in the army in an attempt to eradicate corruption.

“The fight against corruption can be started just from the army and
then pass on to other power-holding agencies,” wrote Sefilian.

“Luxurious cars of the military are unacceptable when significant
parts of the people are in poverty,” he added.

Further, he said that in order to eliminate corruption in the army
it would be enough for the high-ranking personnel to strictly forbid
it and be consistent in its anti-corruption efforts.

Sefilian also attached importance to correct policy in terms of
the personnel in the army where apart from professional knowledge,
ideological and moral standards should also be taken into account.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
