ISRAELI FM INTENDS TO BOOST ARMENIAN GENOCIDE RECOGNITION, “YEDIOTH AHRONOTH” NEWSPAPER WRITES

Mediamax, Armenia
Sept 9 2011

Yerevan/Mediamax/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel Avigdor
Liberman ordered to work out measures to withstand Turkey on
international arena and consider measures for rapprochement with
Armenia.

Israeli “Yedioth Ahronoth” newspaper wrote this, Mediamax reports
quoting News.co.il web site.

The newspaper writes that rapprochement with Armenia, first of all
through the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, is considered as one
of the measures. “During his upcoming visit to USA Avigdor Liberman
is going to meet with representatives of the Armenian lobby and offer
Israel’s assistance in promoting the issue of Genocide recognition
on international arena,” the newspaper writes.

In their recent interviews to Mediamax, Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister
Danny Ayalon and Israeli Ambassador Shmuel Meirom stressed that Israel
never denied the “tragic events” and “mass murder” of Armenians during
the World War I, however, this issue has become political and Israel
doesn’t wish to become a party to the confrontation between Armenia
and Turkey on this important issue.”

Besides, Danny Ayalon preferred to abstain from answering Mediamax’s
question about Israeli-Turkish relations.
