LITHUANIA SUPPORTS ARMENIA IN THE PROCESS OF EUROPEAN INTEGRATION

YEREVAN. – Armenia’s PM Tigran Sargsyan and Lithuania’s Minister
of Education Gintaras SteponaviÄ~Miu have discussed the development
prospects of cooperation between Armenia and Lithuania in the field
of education and science in Yerevan.

During the meeting, the PM referred to the reforms of Armenia’s
educational system and the importance of the accreditation of
Armenian universities abroad, government press service informed
Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Speaking about the historical heritage, the two sides have mentioned
the importance of the change of the soviet mentality and the successful
implementation of the reforms.

SteponaviÄ~Miu emphasized that Lithuania supports Armenia in the
process of European integration and implementing reforms. He also
stressed that he has visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial and laid
a wreath to the Memorial of Armenian Genocide victims, adding that
Lithuania had recognized the Armenian Genocide on December 15th, 2005.

During the meeting Sargsyan stressed the importance of “Financing
Higher Education” international conference, which aims at exchange of
higher education funding mechanisms, the quality of education, opinions
about the effectiveness and experience. SteponaviÄ~Miu mentioned that
such events allow strengthening and deepening the relations.
