YEREVAN.- The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is trying to get from
Azerbaijan guarantees for the Armenian delegation’s participation
in Eurovision song contest, said head of the Public Television of
Armenia Aleksan Harutyunyan.

“We have already informed the EBU that we do not need half-guarantees
from Azerbaijan, we need guarantees of the Union,” he said.

Harutyunyan recalled an incident which happened at the Moscow airport
in 2010 ahead of EBU summit in Baku. At the airport the Armenian
delegation was approached by representative of Azerbaijan who tore
off boarding pass. Members of the Armenian delegation tried to buy
tickets during two weeks and were denied.

“There were only two participants of the summit. Now, the delegation
representing Armenia at the contest includes 30-40 members. We
should be given guarantees by the time of Geneva summit scheduled
for December,” Harutunyan said.

He stressed that Baku faces serious problems while organizing the
contest which was mentioned in the statement issued by EBU and
Eurovision.
