ARMENIA HOPES THE NEGOTIATIONS ON THE VISA REGIME LIBERALIZATION WITH THE EU WILL START SOON

Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian
expressed the hope today that the EU will provide the European
Commission with a mandate for the start of negotiations on facilitation
of visa regime with Armenia before the “Eastern Partnership” summit
in Warsaw, September 29-30.

The Minister stated this during the news conference with the newly
appointed EU Special Representative Philippe Lefort today, Mediamax
reports.

Edward Nalbandyan expressed the confidence that “we will manage to
come to an agreement on liberalization of visa regime with the EU
very soon”.

The Minister also noted that the negotiations on concluding an
Association Agreement with the EU have made “enough progress” and the
preparatory works on the start of the negotiations on establishing
Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area are underway. The Armenian
Foreign Minister expressed the hope that “we will take all the
necessary steps to start these negotiations”.
